The Squamish real estate market is headed into some unknown territory. What effect the 2010 olympics will have on the real estate market is unkown. I feel that the price increase due to the increased demand brought on by the olympics will only be felt in the rental market. However, Squamish will benefit from the increase in transportation infastructure created by the Highway 99 expansion project which will deliver Vancouver comuters swiftly to Squamish. This highway improvement will cancel out the negative effect of the downturn in demand in the period after the olympics which has caused real estate markets that have hosted the olypics in the past to crash. In short the real estate market in Squamish should hold steady at its current values for the forseeable future.
