University To Open On Squamish Oceanfront!
SODC Signs Letter of Intent with Capilano University
Squamish, B.C., July 21, 2010—The Squamish Oceanfront Development Corporation (SODC) has signed a Letter of Intent with Capilano University to advance the planning to exchange the lands currently owned by each party.
The SODC lands, identified as the Learning Centre in the business plan, are positioned in the centre of the Oceanfront Lands and fronts on green space and the Cattermole Slough. In exchange, the SODC would receive lands owned by Capilano University downtown at the end of 2nd Avenue.
“The letter of intent is a significant step for the community both in the Oceanfront Development process and in the effort to build the future home of Capilano University in Squamish. Having Capilano University is an important component of the SODC Business Plan that will lead to long-term value in the community,” says Board Chair, Bill McNeney.
