Fire insurance can hold up the purchase or sale of your property.
Your mortgage lender will require fire insurance on detached homes. Townhouses and condos have fire insurance as part of the strata fees.
If you have a fireplace that goes straight out the chimeny you are most likly good to go, but if you haave a wood burning stove or fireplace insert then you need to make sure you have a proof that the proper permit was obtained when the it was installed or you may not be able to get fire insurance and your mortgage lender may not be able to give you the cash for your purchase.
