I charge 7% on the first $100k and 2.5% on the balance. This commision is then split between the buyers agent and the listing agent. The commision also pays for the various real estate board fees and dues related to the listing. Each agents brokerage also takes a p[ortion of the commission to pay for the administration of real estate offices. The tax man takes his piece as usual. The listing agent uses commissions to pay for the marketin g of properties for sale through advertising.
